Federico Pea is a Full Professor of Pharmacology at the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences of the Alma Mater Studiorum at the University of Bologna, Italy and Head of the Clinical Pharmacology Unit for the Department for Integrated Infectious Risk Management at the The University Hospital of Bologna IRCCS.
His major research interests are clinical pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of antimicrobials. Another major area is clinical pharmacological advice programmes for optimizing and personalizing antimicrobial therapy based on real-time therapeutic drug monitoring in special patient populations, such as critically ill patients, hematological patients and pediatric patients.
He is coauthor of more than 260 articles published in international peer reviewed journals, has an H index of 39 and more than 7,300 citations in Scopus. He is Fellow of the International Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, and member of the Executive Committee of the Italian Society of Anti-infective Therapy (SITA). He is Pharmacology Specialty Chief Editor of Frontiers in Antibiotics, Section Editor for PK/PD of the Journal of Global Antimicrobial Resistance and member of the International Editorial Board of Clinical Pharmacokinetics, Antibiotics, Infectious Disease Reports and Pharmaceutics.
