Jessica Blair currently holds a Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) David Phillips Fellowship and is a senior lecturer in Antimicrobial Resistance at the Institute of Microbiology and Infection at the University of Birmingham UK.

She is an expert in the molecular mechanisms of antibiotic resistance and specifically bacterial efflux pumps. Her team at the University of Birmingham are predominantly interested in how efflux contributes to antibiotic resistance and how the expression of efflux pumps are regulated as well as how different components of multiprotein efflux complexes work together.

Jessica is a member of the council and an academic lead for the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC).

Jessica received her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford and was awarded her PhD in antibiotic assistance from the University of Birmingham in 2010.
