Lena Friberg is Professor of Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Uppsala University, Sweden, a position she has held since 2021. During 2014 – 2021 she was Professor of Pharmacometrics. Lena obtained her PhD degree in in 2003 and spent nearly two years as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Queensland in Australia. She has published over 170 original articles and nearly 20 reviews and book chapters in the area and has an h-index of 56.
Her research is focused on advancing PKPD and pharmacometric concepts for design and analysis of experimental data to facilitate translation between experimental systems and species as well as to support dosing strategies. Since 2005, a substantial part of her research has focused on antibacterial treatments, e.g. developing methods for efficient and quantitative translation of response-time profiles from preclinical (in vitro and in vivo) to patients, in addition to improving approaches to analyze clinical trial data through the integration of PK and PD concepts.
Lena has received the Georgio Segré prize for distinction in the field of Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics, and the Innovation award from the International Society of Pharmacometrics. Current assignments include Head of Department of Pharmacy and President-Elect of International Society of Anti-Infective Pharmacology (ISAP).
