Matiur Rahman is a consultant pulmonologist with both national and international experience in the fields and is currently the Director of Healthcare Quality and Professor of Medicine (Pulmonology), Islamic International Medical College, Pakistan.

He has undertaken courses such as the certificate in patient safety at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He has also completed a one-year training programme in biosafety by the American Society of Microbiology. He has trained individuals in a variety of hospitals in Pakistan.

Matiur is a member of the WHO Global Patient Safety Network. He is also a member of the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council as well as several renowned quality platforms such as the American Society of Quality (ASQ). Matiur is an elected fellow of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, UK and the Royal Institute of Public health and Hygiene also in the UK.
