Methee Chayakulkeeree is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand. He is an internationally recognized expert in infectious diseases with extensive expertise in invasive fungal infections, bacterial diseases, tropical medicine, transplant infectious diseases, and infections in immunocompromised hosts. He completed his medical degree at Mahidol University and later obtained a PhD in Infectious Diseases and Immunology from the University of Sydney, Australia. He also completed advanced training in infectious diseases and molecular mycology as a research fellow at Duke University Medical Centre, North Carolina, USA.
Methee’s clinical and research work has focused on candidiasis, cryptococcosis, aspergillosis, multidrug-resistant bacterial infections, mycobacterial diseases, COVID-19, and emerging infectious diseases. He currently serves as Director of the Thai Medical Mycology Forum and has held senior leadership roles within the Infectious Diseases Association of Thailand. Internationally, he is actively affiliated with the World Health Organization (WHO) expert groups on fungal priority pathogens and antifungal resistance, the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), the International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM), the European Confederation of Medical Mycology (ECMM), the Asia Fungal Working Group (AFWG), the Asia-Pacific Society for Medical Mycology (APSMM), the Transplantation Society (TTS), and the Global Action Fund for Fungal Infections (GAFFI).
Methee has authored more than 100 international publications, global clinical guidelines, and textbook chapters, all of which have significantly contributed to infectious disease practice in Asia and worldwide.
