Definition:
Fungi are eukaryotic (have their genetic material enclosed in a nucleus) organisms that can be single celled such as yeasts or multicellular.
They can be pathogenic causing disease in humans as well as in other living organisms. The study of the fungi that cause disease in humans is known as “medical mycology”.
