Translation

Translation is the process in which ribosomes in the cytoplasm synthesise proteins.

Translation proceeds in three phases: initiation, elongation and termination, whereby messenger RNA (mRNA) is decoded in a ribosome to produce a specific amino acid chain, or polypeptide. The polypeptide later folds into an active protein.
