Olga Lomovskaya is Co-Founder and Senior Vice-President of Discovery and Clinical Microbiology at Qpex Biopharma.
Her industrial career started in 1995 with her working at Microcide Pharmaceuticals where she pioneered various approaches to overcome efflux-mediated resistance. Olga was a director of Mpex Pharmaceuticals as well as the Vice-President of Biology. She is also one of the founders of Rempex Pharmaceuticals which was acquired by The Medicines Company in 2013. Here, she led efforts to discover novel beta-lactamase inhibitors and developed beta-lactam/beta-lactamase inhibitors combinations.
She has over 20 patents and has authored over 50 original articles and book chapters. She serves on the editorial boards of several scientific journals including Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy and Journal of Bacteriology. Olga was elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology.
Olga received her PhD in molecular genetics from the Institute of Molecular Genetics, Russian Academy of Sciences and her Master’s degree in molecular biology from Moscow State University, Russia. She also performed research appointments at MIT, Cal Tech and Stanford, all in the USA.
