Lorenzo Moja is a medical doctor who has held international positions in public health, information management, and evaluation of health care interventions. Lorenzo has served the Secretariat of the Model List of Essential Medicines during the last five updates of the Model List (2015–2023). His research focuses on critical appraisal of medicine and healthcare interventions, and it has led him to have some apprehensions about medical practice and research. He supported the development of the new WHO classification AWARE to support antibiotic stewardship at local, national and global levels, with the aim of reducing antimicrobial resistance, and the last WHO comprehensive review of cancer treatments.
