Process excellence index (PEI)

Measure of process reproducibility, yield and cycle time of various operations.

In process chemistry, the PEI is used to monitor the process of development and optimisation of a synthetic scheme and pilot plant procedure to manufacture compounds. In practice, if a process is high-yielding and has a narrow distribution of yield outcomes, then the PEI should be very high.
