Elisabetta Cacace is a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) Ambizione Fellow and has received a grant to establish her research group at EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne). Her research integrates genomics with high-throughput systems biology to investigate how host factors, innate immunity, and non-antibiotic drugs influence bacterial physiology and host-microbe dynamics. Her work aims to identify the mechanistic principles underpinning bacterial adaptation and evolution across ecological niches, informing new strategies to combat antimicrobial resistance.
Elisabetta trained as a medical doctor at the University of Pisa and the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, obtained her PhD at EMBL Heidelberg, and then held a postdoctoral position at Frankfurt University Hospital and ETH Zurich.
